Taylor-Swift
Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift's passion for music was evident in the early years of her life. From plays for children to appearing in front of crowds, Swift made rapid progress. As Swift sang The Star-Spangled Banner in front of the Philadelphia 76ers at a game at the age of 11. She was already creating songs. The next year she started playing the guitar. Drawing inspiration from musicians from the country genre like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original songs that were a reflection of her own experiences of tween alienation. Swift's parents relocated her to Tennessee when she was 13 when they decided to sell their Pennsylvania farm. The move allowed Swift to be more active in trying to find labels that would promote country music in Nashville.
